Uptown
The pulse of city life is felt strongly in the blocks radiating outward from Independence Square and bound by I-277 and I-77. Over 7,500 Charlotteans now live as well as work uptown - some in mid-rise condos, some in penthouses, and some in the quaint Victorian single-family homes that make Fourth Ward so charming. Charlotte was originally divided into four wards. The names still describe the uptown area today. Each ward is known for its unique qualities, from the Panthers Stadium and the new arena, to the parks, restaurants and performing arts venues, uptown may be the place for you!

Lake Norman/North Mecklenburg
25 miles north of Center City and connected by I-77, the Lake Norman area is just north of Harris Blvd/I-77, and includes Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson in Mecklenburg County and Mooresville in Iredell County; and Denver in Lincoln County.  Over 100,000 people call this area home, and growth is continuing by leaps and bounds. These residents once trekked south into Charlotte to shop, but with the development of Birkdale Village at Exit 25  Northlake Mall at Exit 18 every convenience from groceries, to malls, to specialty shops is accessible. South Charlotte
South Charlotte is home to some of the region's most desirable neighborhoods, as well as major shopping venues, SouthPark Mall and Carolina Place Mall. Two of Mecklenburg's most historic towns, Matthews and Pineville, blend with the city's southern edge. The newest destination for living, shopping and working on the south side of town is Ballantyne.

East Charlotte
East Charlotte is a meca of Charlotte's busiest commercial districts as well as a collection of neighborhoods, from the newly established to the historic. Home to the Charlotte Museum of History and many other attractions, East Charlotte is a convenient place to live for many newcomers. From auto mecas and big box stores, there is commerce for everyone!

Southwest Charlotte
Southwest Charlotte experienced an exceptional growth spurt during the 1990s, when the number of new homes more than doubled. Now that I-485 connects this part of the Queen City to South Charlotte, the airport and Ballantyne, Southwest Charlotte has become a very convenient place to reside. Retail has expounded with a new home improvement store and a super discount store. SW Charlotte residents have it all!
